Born on July 16, 1986, Josh Albrecht grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia with his two great parents, Billy and Maria, and older brother, Chad. While growing up, baseball, basketball, and golf were Josh’s main interests. His musical passion, however, was something that seemed to have no beginning. Josh’s family had always played music for different occasions; thus, he had always been surrounded by music. Learning how to play the guitar came mostly through watching his father.
At 17, Josh joined the United States Coast Guard Reserves. While enlisted in the Reserves, he attended Palm Beach Atlantic University where he began his college education as a Marine Biology major. Josh thought he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life: to work with marine life and to be out on the water. But God had different plans.
Having grown up regularly attending church, Josh thought he understood what it meant to be a Christian. However, it wasn’t until the summer after his first year in college, while at a youth camp, that he had an encounter with God that changed his life. God spoke clearly to Josh during that time. By the end of the camp, Josh had come to a place in his life where he was willing to give up his own plans and desires, in order that God’s Will could take prevalence.
His encounter with the Holy Spirit gave Josh an indescribable passion and thirst to pursue God’s calling in his life. He changed his major to Christian Leadership and looked for opportunities to grow in his calling. Now, his greatest passion is to provoke youth to truly understand what it means to follow Jesus. Using his musical talent to impact lives for the sake of Christ, opportunities have continued to develop for Josh to cross paths with youth all across the country. |
