M.Fillmore Studio Blog – Nashville, Nov. 2009

Nov. 13-14, 2009
DAY 1-2

Hey friends! so our first day in the studio with Steve Wilson, its been awesome, so basically we’ve spent all day throwing our songs at Steve, then he works his magic with the lyrics and stuff, in hopes of making each song the most catchiest song you’ve ever heard….well that’s the goal!!!! Studio Day 1 almost done!

DAY 3 – Drums
So today, we headed over to another studio here in Nashville to record drums for the record. We wanted to get a big, boomy sound for the drums, so this studio was a big room with high ceilings, which gave us exactly the sound we were after. We brought in Jeremy Lutito to play the drum-kit. Jeremy is the man, he was awesome. He is currently the drummer for Mat Kearney, but has a great track-record of playing with bands like Jars of Clay, Phil Wickam, and yes, even the Backstreet Boys! haha, but anyways it was a good day for sure.

DAY 4 – Bass guitar

Our producer, Steve, happens to be a bassist, which worked out great for him to lay down all the bass tracks. One of our engineers, Kyle, also is a bassist, so he shreded some bass lines also. So basically, each bass track for each song is a combination of both Steve and Kyle throughout the whole song.

DAY 5 – Acoustic guitar
Today was fun, because the songs are starting to take shape. Adding the acoustic was sweet, it took a long time, but I’m pretty happy with what we got! We also had a visit in the studio from our friend Jonny Diaz, who’s #1 song “More Beautiful You” was also produced by Steve.

DAY 6 – Lead Vocals
Vocals is definitely the most important part of the song. They are what the whole song revolves around, so needless to say, they have to be good…not perfect, but good. Here we go!

DAY 7 – Electric Guitars

Today was Josh’s day! He and Steve have worked out all the electric guitar parts and layed them down! They sound pretty sweet if I do say so myself.
