My name is Blake Colson, aka. Russell or Russ, because some people say I look like Russell Crowe...you tell me.
Well I was born in Jackson, Ms. and raised in a little town called Magee, Ms. This is where I tell you what all there is to do in Magee, prepare yourselves....(dramatic pause) Nothing! You definitely get used to hot humid weather and good food and thats about it. You learn to sweat and eat at the same time.
As a child my parents had me in church every chance the doors were open. They did their best to make sure I had a knowledge of who Jesus Christ was. I accepted Christ and baptized at a young age. I knew God but didn't truly know him, if that makes any sense.
The summer of 2005 I attended a camp and got so in tune with Christ that i wanted to live and do everything i could for him.
I then began leading worship for my youth group. During high school, I played guitar for my church and with other local bands, just worshiping God at any chance given.
The summer before my junior year of high school my parents decided to move about an hour north to Brandon, MS. This time of my life I had to really rely on God. Changing schools and churches at a point in my life when I thought that everything was going as planned, God showed me that what I thought was completely wrong and I need to rely on my faith in him.
Over those two final years of high school, God had me back in churches leading worship. I now attend the University of Southern Mississippi, where i am majoring in Entertainment Industry: Production. This is probably the best major ever.
Through good friends and God's way of weaving people together, I connected with M.Fillmore and here I am today. I'd love to get to know you too!
